Menopause Research Institute is not a replacement
of normal, routine gynecological care for the perimenopausal or menopausal
woman. Indeed, we want to make it absolutely clear that this is not what MRI
stands for. In conceptionalizing MRI before its initial creation, we spent
considerable time and research effort on determining [1] what clinical services
perimenopausal and menopausal women really needed on a sub-specialty care level
(since they, of course, were already receiving many services from the general
gynecologist); and [2] which, amongst such services, were currently not available
in the New York City area.
Our research led us to a number of very specific program needs and it is these service
needs we are now attempting to address through MRI.
