If you are reading these pages, you most likely already have an, at least basic, understanding of menopause. However, we feel that such a basic understanding is not enough if you want to become an active participant in the management of your medical situation.

You may notice that we used the term situation to describe your menopause; i.e., we, on purpose, did not use terms, like condition, or disease, because menopause, of course, represents an entirely normal phase in every woman’s life. There is nothing abnormal about it. It does not mean that you suddenly require treatment. Indeed, in most women there is nothing sudden about the occurrence of menopause because, as we now have come to understand, the process of ovarian aging, it is really a progressive process which starts even before you were born.
