Non-traditional medical services have become very popular in the treatment of
menopause. We strongly support their responsible use and, indeed, have established
a network of alternative health care providers with whom MRI closely collaborates.
Like with ancillary services, we, in principle, have no outright preferences for specific
alternative health care providers; however, when referring patients, we want to be sure
that the care they receive is standardized and appropriate. A listing of providers of
alternative health care services, who have established a special rapport with MRI,
can be found at our website, menopauseresearchinstitute.com.
Non-traditional medications have also increased in popular acceptance. Unfortunately,
a large number of alternative drugs, which are widely propagated, have failed to stand
up to the scrutiny of well designed and controlled studies. Others have never even been
investigated. We see it, therefore, as our responsibility to advice patients correctly about
such alternative medications, so that they can make appropriate and informed decisions
about their uses, based on facts, and not based on innuendo and, often, wishful thinking.
