Chinese traditional medicine operates under completely different assumptions than
Western medicine. The probably biggest contrast can be seen in the fact that
Chinese medicine views health a the perfect balance between opposing energies, -
Yin and Yang.
A menopausal woman, within such a context, will be seen as out
of balance in her “kidney Yin”; in other words she will be “kidney Yin – deficient”
and the goal of treatment will be to reestablish balance by improving kidney energy.
This is where acupuncture comes into the picture, often in combination with
Chinese herbs. Traditional Chinese medicine has been reported to be able to affect
most menopausal symptoms positively.
